Custom 3D illuminated lettering for your business

3D illuminated letters combine a raised letter or logo body with a designed lighting effect. Unlike a flat printed sign, each character has depth and a visible profile. The construction controls where light appears: through the face, behind the letter or in both directions. Choose the effect around the location, brand artwork and how the sign should look during the day as well as after dark.

Shopfront lettering needs to work from the pavement and the main approach to the premises. Interior lettering is usually viewed closer, where finish, spacing and glare are more noticeable. For a complete frontage, explore our shopfront signage; for a lobby or office wall, see reception signs.

Face-lit, halo-lit and combined effects

Face-lit letters

Face-lit lettering directs light through a translucent face, typically with opaque sides defining the letter shape. The face material, colour, stroke width and internal depth all affect the result. Review the intended daytime colour and illuminated appearance together. Our channel letter signs page covers the related built-up letter format.

Halo-lit letters

Halo-lit or reverse-lit letters cast light onto the surface behind them. The wall colour, texture and spacing behind each letter influence the halo. A dark or heavily textured wall can produce a different result from a smooth pale surface. Compare the effect with our LED backlit signs service when planning the finish.

Combined lighting

Some letter constructions can combine illuminated faces and rear lighting. This needs enough space for the chosen components and a coordinated balance of brightness and colour. Share a reference for the effect you want, then confirm the actual construction and sample approach in the quotation.

Materials, letter depth and artwork

Acrylic faces, metal sides, backing pieces and finishes are selected as a complete system. Thin strokes, tight corners and very small characters can limit how lighting fits inside a letter. Deeper construction may create more room, but depth should suit the proportions of the logo and the available mounting space.

Provide vector artwork, approved wording, brand colours and any Arabic and English versions. Review spelling, letter spacing and the overall width on a scaled layout before production. Where artwork needs adaptation, our signage design service can be included in the scope. If illumination is unnecessary, compare non-illuminated dimensional lettering.

Plan the site, power and future access

Send photographs of the proposed surface and identify the wall or fascia material. Installation height, letter weight, fixing restrictions and access conditions affect the mounting plan. Individual mounting and a shared backing panel create different appearances and cable-routing options.

Identify the proposed power supply location and agree who is responsible for electrical connection, cable routes, switching and access to power supplies. Do not assume these tasks are included in a fabrication-only price. The installation team should confirm the arrangement for the selected system.

Outdoor letters need a construction and component specification appropriate to the site’s exposure. Check the requirements for the actual location instead of relying on a generic waterproof claim. For exterior or building-managed locations, establish the approval responsibilities with the property team and discuss signage plans and permit support where needed.

From your logo to installed illuminated letters

1. Share the brief and site photos

Send artwork, approximate sign width, installation height, preferred lighting effect and full project location. Include the required date, any landlord guidelines and whether existing signage needs removal.

2. Agree the construction and lighting

Review letter dimensions, depth, face and side finishes, light colour, mounting and cable arrangements. Check how final measurements will be verified and whether a material or lighting sample is included.

3. Approve the artwork and itemised scope

Check both language versions, spelling, spacing and the sign’s position on the wall. Agree fabrication, delivery, installation, access equipment and electrical responsibilities before production begins.

4. Coordinate installation and handover

Check working hours and site access through our sign installation service. At handover, check the sign against the approved layout and lighting brief. Ask for cleaning guidance, access details and the documented warranty scope if offered. Keep future sign maintenance in mind when choosing component locations.

What affects the price of illuminated letters in Dubai?

Cost depends on letter count, logo complexity, overall dimensions, depth, materials, finish and lighting arrangement. Backing panels, artwork preparation, access equipment, removal and electrical work can change the total. A small reception logo and a large exterior sign have different production and fitting requirements. Send your artwork and photos for an itemised quotation. Lead time is confirmed after the design, materials, approvals and site schedule are agreed.

3D illuminated lettering questions

Which is better: face-lit or halo-lit lettering?

Face-lit letters illuminate the characters themselves; halo-lit letters illuminate the wall behind them. Choose around viewing distance, wall finish and the desired appearance. Review the proposed effect in relation to your actual site.

Can the sign include Arabic and English?

Yes, both can be included in the proposed layout. Supply approved wording and vector artwork where available, and check spacing, proportions and readability before production.

Can every logo be made into illuminated letters?

Not every detail is practical at every size. Thin strokes or small shapes may need an approved adjustment, larger dimensions or a different construction. Artwork should be reviewed before a final price is confirmed.

Is installation and electrical work included?

Only where included in the agreed quotation. Ask for fabrication, delivery, mounting, access equipment and electrical responsibilities to be listed clearly.

Can illuminated letters be used outdoors?

They can be specified for exterior use when the materials, lighting components, fixings and electrical arrangement suit the location. Share exposure, facade details and installation height during the enquiry.

What happens if the lighting needs repair?

Access depends on the letter construction and where the power supplies and connections are located. Agree maintenance access before fitting, and retain the component details and any warranty documentation supplied.
