Booklets are still one of the best ways to present a company profile, product catalogue, menu, school yearbook or event programme. A printed booklet feels more serious than a PDF, and people keep it. Here is what to decide before you order.

Choose the size

A4 (21 x 29.7 cm): company profiles, catalogues and reports.
A5 (14.8 x 21 cm): event programmes, menus and price lists.
Square sizes: portfolios and lookbooks.

Page count

Booklets with saddle stitch (staple) binding need a page count divisible by four, such as 8, 12, 16 or 24 pages, because each sheet folds into four pages. If your content is a little short, add a notes page or a full page photo.

Binding options

Saddle stitch: two staples in the spine. Great for up to around 48 to 64 pages.
Perfect binding: a flat glued spine like a paperback. Looks premium for thicker catalogues.
Wire binding: lies flat when open, useful for manuals and planners.

Paper

Use a thicker paper for the cover so it feels solid.
Gloss paper makes photos bright; matte paper is easier to read and looks modern.

Artwork tips

Send a print ready PDF with 3 mm bleed on every side.
Keep text at least 5 mm inside the trim edge.
Use high resolution images (300 dpi at print size).
