Temporary signage: a board, a banner or a ground graphic?

A printed board gives the message a defined panel, for example a site notice, temporary direction or property identification. Specify how the board will be supported as well as its size.

A fence banner uses an existing boundary as the display location. Share the fence construction, clear run and gate positions so the print layout and fixing requirements can be considered.

A ground graphic places a message on a walking surface. It needs a suitable material system for that particular floor or pavement, plus an agreed application, inspection and removal plan.

What needs to change during the campaign?

A fixed message, regularly changing promotion and sign moved between locations need different solutions. Tell us whether you want to replace only the printed face, reuse a support or update digital content. Outdoor displays are not necessarily temporary, and a temporary sign is not automatically reusable.

Looking for a portable event display?

For a portable message near an entrance, compare A-frame signs; for flags and exhibition equipment, explore event displays. For a permanent shopfront or building name, start with building and storefront signs. You can combine several formats in one enquiry. For a folding pavement-sign option, see the A-Frame Sidewalk Sign product.

The options below cover printed panels, mounted signs, ground graphics and digital displays. Choose the closest application, then describe the actual site so the material and installation requirements can be discussed.

digital signs & displays in dubai

Digital signs & displays

Consider a display when the message needs regular updates. Specify indoor, sheltered or exposed outdoor use, the viewing position and how content will be managed. Hardware, power, support and installation need an agreed scope.

post & panel signs in dubai

Post & panel signs

Present site identification or directions on a panel supported by posts. Provide the location and intended display period, and clarify whether the enquiry includes posts, groundworks and installation or only the sign face.

traffic & parking signs in dubai

Traffic & parking signs

Discuss parking information, site directions or signs specified by the responsible project team. Supply the approved messages, symbols and technical requirements. Public-road signs must follow the relevant authority process, not a promotional design brief.

coroplast & corrugated plastic signs in dubai

Coroplast & corrugated plastic signs

Explore printed corrugated plastic boards for site or campaign messages. Include dimensions, quantity, one- or two-sided artwork and the support method. Check the actual sheet brand, thickness and specification in the quotation.

floor graphics & decals in dubai

Floor graphics & decals

Guide visitors or highlight a message on a floor surface. Tell us the floor material, cleaning routine and expected use. Indoor floor graphics should not be assumed suitable for an exposed outdoor pavement.

asphalt & pavement graphics in dubai

Asphalt & pavement graphics

Discuss graphics for a specified exterior walking surface. Share close-up photos of its texture and condition, the display period and expected traffic. Material suitability and a surface assessment are important before application.

fence mesh banners in dubai

Fence mesh banners

Use a fence line for campaign or site graphics. Send panel dimensions, gate locations and photos of the supports. Mesh construction does not replace a review of the fence, exposure and fixing arrangement. Compare the Vinyl Mesh Banner product as a printed-mesh option.

custom yard signs in dubai

Custom yard signs

Identify an entrance, property or temporary destination with a small freestanding board. Specify the ground or mounting location, quantity and message on each face; stakes or supports should be confirmed separately. See the Custom Yard Sign product for a small-format board option.

Give every temporary sign a location and an end date

A useful campaign brief says more than “ten signs.” List where each sign goes, the message it carries and when it should be removed. For an opening, you might need a fence banner, an entrance board and directions from a parking area. Those items have different dimensions and fixing needs even when they share the same branding.

  • Purpose and wording: promotion, site information or directions; include the approved message and any Arabic and English versions.
  • Locations and quantities: give the site address and label each position on photos or a simple location plan.
  • Size and layout: state the finished dimensions, number of printed faces and whether each copy carries different information.
  • Display dates: include setup, campaign start, removal and any planned reuse.
  • Site details: show the ground, fence, wall or existing frame, including its condition and any restrictions.
  • Required scope: say whether you need print only, supports, application, delivery, installation or removal.

Match the material to the site—not just “outdoor use”

Rigid boards: discuss the sheet type, thickness, print faces and support arrangement. A small board on a suitable support and a large panel spanning between posts are different specifications. Coroplast is a brand of corrugated plastic sheet; confirm the actual product supplied rather than assuming a brand from a category name.

Banners and mesh: define finished size, edge treatment and how the print meets the available fixing points. Show exposed locations and the condition of the fence or frame. The support and installation arrangement need assessment even when the print is intended for a short campaign.

Floor and pavement graphics: identify smooth or textured surfaces, existing coatings, cleaning and foot traffic. Ask for the proposed film and protective finish, suitability evidence and any test application needed. 3M’s floor and sidewalk graphics guidance illustrates the importance of application-specific systems; it is not a promise that a particular brand is included in your quote.

Plan the message for the point where it is read

For a directional sign, name the destination and confirm the arrow against the actual approach. For a promotional board, prioritise the offer or event, then its essential date and location. Avoid shrinking a poster full of detail onto a sign that people only see briefly.

Mark gates, corners and breaks in a fence before splitting artwork into panels. For two-sided boards, confirm the message and arrow direction on each face. Check Arabic and English wording together so the layout gives both versions appropriate space before production.

Site permission and responsibility

Short-term use does not establish permission to place a sign. Check the landowner, venue or project team’s requirements and any applicable authority approval before installation. In Dubai, Mada Media’s land advertising services and right-of-way advertising service cover different site and display categories. Check the route for the proposed location rather than assuming one process applies everywhere.

Agree who supplies and checks the support, installs the sign, monitors its condition and removes it when the campaign ends. Ask for appropriate instructions for the selected display. Traffic or safety signs need the responsible authority or project reviewer’s specification; this category is not a substitute for that approval.

Compare the full campaign cost

Price depends on size, quantity, print versions, material, finishing, supports and site work. A print-only banner is not the same scope as a supplied-and-installed display. Include separate locations, old-graphic removal and end-of-campaign collection where needed.

For reuse, ask which components are retained, how they should be stored and whether new print faces can be ordered independently. Check production and setup dates only after the artwork, materials and site requirements are understood. Enquiries across the UAE are welcome; delivery and work outside Dubai are agreed per project.

FROM BRIEF TO HANDOVER

From campaign brief to planned removal

Keep the location list, artwork versions and display dates together so nothing is missed between printing and site setup.

  1. Map the display positions
Share site photos, quantities and the intended start and end dates.
  2. Agree formats and responsibilities
Check materials, supports, finishing, site permissions and supply or installation scope.
  3. Check every artwork version
Approve dates, contact details, languages, panel order and directional arrows.
  4. Arrange setup and removal
Check access, the site contact, condition checks and what happens to the signs after the display period.

Outdoor and temporary signage questions

Start with the location and message. A board can suit a focused notice or direction, a banner can use an available fence or frame, and a ground graphic can place a message on a suitable walking surface. Tell us the display dates, dimensions and support available so the options can be compared.

No. The surface, exposure and intended use affect the material system. Describe the actual floor or pavement and ask for a suitable film, finish and application approach, including any testing needed. Do not assume an indoor decal is appropriate for an outdoor walkway.

Some displays can be planned for reuse, but it depends on the material, supports, condition and how they are removed and stored. Say whether the message changes between campaigns. Ask which parts can be retained and whether replacement print faces are available before choosing the format.

No. The fence or frame, fixing arrangement, location and exposure still need assessment. Share photos and dimensions of the actual support and agree who is responsible for checking it. The material name alone does not establish that an installation is suitable.

Only when they are part of the agreed scope. Specify whether you need a printed face alone or a complete display with supports, delivery, installation and removal. Include the number of locations and access arrangements so the quotation can identify each part of the work.

Check the requirements for the actual location, display type and duration. Landowner or venue permission and authority approvals may be relevant even for a short campaign. Check the applicable route and who handles any application before setup; artwork approval is not permission to occupy a site.

Check campaign dates, opening hours, contact details, spelling and every language version. For directional signs, verify the destination and arrow for the installed position and each printed face. For a fence banner, confirm panel order and avoid placing key words across gates or gaps.

The quote depends on the format, dimensions, quantity, artwork versions, material, finishing and site work. A board supplied for you to fit has a different scope from an installed fence banner or a pavement-graphics application. Send the location photos and display dates to request a project-specific comparison.

An A-frame can be considered for a short-term message near a shop entrance, but the location and permission must be checked first. Check the landlord or site manager’s rules and any applicable authority requirements for that exact position; do not assume temporary or portable means permission-free. Include the display dates, proposed position, dimensions and who will bring the sign in or secure it when required.
