Sign Writing in Dubai
Lettering can make a shopfront, window, wall or vehicle easier to recognise—but “sign writing” covers different production methods. Tell Al Burooj Advertising L.L.C what you want the sign to say, where it will go and how long it needs to last. We will confirm a suitable method and a clear scope before production.

Choose the lettering method, not just the look
“Sign writing” is used for several different techniques. Traditional brush-painted letters, cut-vinyl lettering, printed graphics and fabricated letters can look similar in a picture but differ in texture, finish, maintenance and installation. Send a reference and ask us to identify the exact method offered for your project. We will not assume that a request for hand-painted work can be substituted with vinyl without your approval.
Painted, cut-vinyl and printed lettering
Hand-painted lettering has its own craft and surface-preparation requirements; availability needs confirmation for the specific brief. Cut vinyl may be appropriate for clean solid-colour words and simple logos on compatible smooth surfaces. Print can accommodate photographs, gradients or complex artwork. The correct choice depends on the substrate, size, viewing distance, weather exposure, intended lifespan and whether the graphic may need to be removed later. Ask for the proposed material and finish in writing.
Where lettering is used
Common enquiries include shopfront panels, window lettering, interior feature walls, temporary display graphics and vehicle lettering. Each surface needs its own check: glass visibility and cleaning, painted-wall condition, exterior sun and dust, or seams and curves on a vehicle. For raised or illuminated lettering, see dimensional letters and channel letter signs; those are different scopes from applying flat graphics.
How to plan a sign-writing brief
1. Start with exact words and the real surface
Send the business name or message exactly as it must appear, your highest-quality logo, colour references and photographs of the whole installation area plus close views of the surface. Include approximate width and height, the number of locations, indoor or outdoor use and the address. Tell us if old lettering must be removed, if the surface is newly painted or textured, or if work at height may be needed. Dimensions from photos alone are only estimates.
2. Check reading distance and both languages
Decide which information must be understood immediately and which can be read at close range. Type size, contrast and spacing should be checked against the installed size and lighting. If you need Arabic and English, supply approved wording in each language and identify the person responsible for checking spelling and meaning. A visual proof is not a language-quality guarantee.
3. Confirm the production method and responsibilities
Ask the quote to state artwork preparation, material or paint system, finish, surface preparation, quantity, survey, delivery, access equipment and installation where relevant. Agree how many proofs or revisions are included and who signs off the final scale and spelling. Exterior signs may need landlord or authority approval; permit planning is a separate matter unless explicitly included.
4. Approve a site-specific proof
Review the proposed layout on a real photograph or measured drawing of your site rather than an attractive generic mock-up. Check names, numbers, URLs, arrow directions and mounting positions. If colour or material is critical, ask whether a sample is possible. Production should use the approved version, with later changes quoted separately if they affect artwork or materials.
What changes the price and lead time?
Size, quantity, artwork complexity, bilingual layout, the chosen technique, substrate condition, outdoor durability, access and installation all affect cost. Removal of old graphics or a site survey may add work. Request an itemised quotation rather than a price based only on a picture, and confirm the schedule after artwork, site details and permissions are settled.

Sign-writing questions
What does sign writing mean for my project?
Sign writing can mean traditional painted lettering, cut-vinyl letters, digitally printed graphics or another sign-making method. Share a reference image and the surface you want lettered. We will confirm which method Al Burooj can supply for your brief in the written quotation rather than assuming all techniques are available.
Do you offer hand-painted sign writing?
Please ask specifically for hand-painted lettering and share the artwork, size and surface. Availability and suitability should be confirmed before a quote is accepted. A vinyl or printed option is not the same as hand painting and should be identified clearly if proposed.
Can lettering be made in Arabic and English?
Yes, submit the exact approved text for both languages and indicate the intended reading order. The proof should be checked by a competent reviewer for spelling, meaning, layout and legibility before anything is made or installed. Translation is not assumed to be included.
What surfaces can be lettered?
Suitability depends on the actual substrate, paint or coating, texture, condition and exposure. Send close and wide photographs and state whether the surface is a wall, glass, metal, vehicle or another material. A site check or adhesion test may be needed before a method is confirmed.
How do I choose between vinyl and printed graphics?
Cut vinyl can suit simple solid-colour lettering; printing is often considered for gradients or detailed artwork. Outdoor exposure, expected lifespan, surface shape and removal needs affect the choice. Ask the team to specify the material, finish and preparation in the quotation.
Do I need a permit for exterior lettering?
Requirements can depend on the location, landlord, sign size, illumination and local authority. Customer approval of the artwork is not a permit. Confirm who will check and obtain any required permissions before production; permit support is included only if stated in the quote.
What information is needed for a price?
Provide the exact wording, logo or artwork, number of signs, approximate dimensions, site photos, surface material, indoor or outdoor use, emirate, access conditions and desired date. Say whether you need design, manufacture, installation and removal of existing graphics.
Can you handle a sign-writing enquiry outside Dubai?
Al Burooj is based in Al Quoz, Dubai. Send the emirate and full site location; any survey, delivery or installation elsewhere in the UAE must be confirmed for that project before it is promised.
