Ordering the wrong banner size is one of the most common printing mistakes. Too small and nobody reads it; too big and it does not fit the space. Here is a simple guide in centimetres.

Roll up banners

A roll up banner stands on the floor and rolls into its base for transport. Common sizes are around 85 x 200 cm and 100 x 200 cm, with wider options for stages. For tables, choose a desktop roll up banner.

Best for: exhibitions, lobbies, events and shops.

X banners

X banner stands and Korean style X banners are lighter and lower cost than roll ups. They are popular for short events and promotions.

Vinyl banners

A vinyl banner is made to any size, from small counter banners to building wraps. As a guide:

Shop front offer: around 300 x 100 cm.
Event stage backdrop: around 400 x 250 cm or larger.
Fence banner: match the fence panel, often around 200 x 100 cm per panel.

For long outdoor use, choose a heavy duty banner.

Mesh banners

Mesh banners have small holes so wind passes through. Use them for fences, scaffolding and high places.

Fabric banners

Fabric banners have a soft, matte finish with no glare under lights, so they look premium in hotels, conferences and photo backdrops.

How big should the text be?

Read from 3 metres: letters around 3 cm tall.
Read from 10 metres: letters around 10 cm tall.
Read from 30 metres: letters around 30 cm tall.

A simple rule: about 1 cm of letter height for every metre of viewing distance.
